American Disabilities Act: who is covered and for what? (This was in multiple chapters)
Americans with disabilities act of 1990
Employers with 15 or more employees, employment agencies, labor unions, and state and local governments are prohibited from discriminating against persons with disabilities
Applicants must:
> Have a record of physical or mental impairment that substantially limits major life activities
> Be qualified to perform the essential functions of the job in question with or without an accommodation.
What is considered an “undue hardship?” (covered in previous chapters as well)
Allow employees the ability to observe religious practices, if these practices do not cause undue hardship.
An undue hardship is an American legal term referring to special or specified circumstances that partially or fully exempt a person or organization from performance of a legal obligation so as to avoid an unreasonable or disproportionate burden or obstacle.
