It is a future focused, goal orientated therapeutic approach to brief therapy.

- Find out what the client want rather than searching for what they do not want.
- Do not look for pathology, and do not attempt to reduce clients by giving them a diagnostic label.
- If what clients are doing is not working, encourage them to experiment with doing something different.
- Keep therapy brief by approaching each session as if it were the last and only session.

What is narrative therapy?
When the clients construct the meaning of life in interpretive stories.
What is normalizing judgement?
It is any kind of judgement that locates a person on a normal curve and is issued to assess intelligence, mental health, or normal behavior.
What is externalization?
It is one process for deconstructing the power of a narrative. It separates the person from identifying the problem.
What are externilizing conversations?
They counteract oppressive problem saturated stories
What are the two stages of structuring externilizing conversations?
- To map the influence of the problem in the persons life.
