Chapter 13 Flashcards
2 layers of the heart
Endocardium
Epicardium
Order of electric impulses from the heart
SA node
AV node
AV bundle
Small purkinse fibers
Mona
Morphine
Oxygen
Nitroglycerin
Aspirin
Heart attack
Myocardial infarction
Received oxygen rich blood as it returns from the lungs in pulmonary veins
Left atrium
Know as the tricuspid
Right atrioventricular
Ventricle with the greatest force
Left ventricle
Formed by the wall of the left ventricle
Hearts apex
Thin fibrous threads that starch to left and right AV
Papillary muscles
Stabilize the valve flaps when the ventricles contract so that the blood force will not push the valves up into the atria
Chordae tendineae
Valve located between the left ventricle and the aorta. When the left ventricle relaxes, back pressure closes the aortic valve and prevents the back flow of blood from the aorta to the ventricle
Aortic valve
Contraction
Systole
A dilated vein that opens into the right atrium near the inferior vena cava
Coronary sinus
Main arteries that supply blood to the heart muscle. They encircle the heart like a crown & branch off the aorta
Right and left coronary arteries
Contraction of ventricles pumps blood into aorta and pulmonary arteries. Valves must be closed
Ventricular systole
