Genre
General term describing the standard category and overall character of a work
Symphony
Large work for orchestra, generally in 4 movements
Medium
Performing forces employed in a certain musical work
Opus number (Op.)
A number, often part of the title of a piece, designating the work in chronological relationship to other works by the same composer
Crossover
Recording or artist that appeals primarily to one audience but becomes popular with another as well (e.g. rock performer who makes jazz recordings)
Oral transmission
Music that is transmitted by example or imitation and performed by memory
Style
Characteristic manner of the presentation of musical elements (melody, harmony, rhythm, dynamics, form, texture, tempo)
