Describe the difference between sexual and asexual reproduction?

A
  1. Sexual reproduction: The process involving the fusion of two nuclei (gametes) to form a diploid zygote and the production of genetically dissimilar offspring.
  2. Asexual reproduction: A process of reproduction where a lone parent gives birth to many identical offspring.

What is the cause of Gonorrhea?

A
  • Caused by bacteria
  • Passed on through sexual reproduction.
  • Bacteria prefer moist, warm habitats like reproductive tubes.

What are the symptoms in males and females?

A
  1. Males: Bacteria reproduce withing urethra/ symptoms within 5-7 days/ pus filled discharge from urethra/ burning sensation when urinating/ painful and swollen testes.
  2. Females: bacteria reproduce in cervix/ may have vaginal discharge but no pain.

How can Gonorrhea be prevented?

A
  • Abstaining from sexual intercourse.
  • Having only one sexual partner.
  • Use of condom.
  • Tracing, warning and treating sexual partners who have disease to prevent it from spreading.

What is the cause of Human Immuno-deficiency (HIV)?

A
  • Virus infects the lymphocytes.
  • Attack T-cells and uses them to make copies of itself.
  • Destroys T-cells so immune system isn’t strong/nonfunctional.
  • Virus mutates to mask itself.
  • About 10 years later the patient developd AIDS (Accquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome)

A
  1. Through body fluids.
  2. Sexual intercourse
  3. Blood contact-blood transfusion.
  4. Drug usage by injecting with an infected needle.
