- manifest content - the plot of the dream that you remember
- latent content- unconscious thoughts and feelings revealed in the dream
Resistance
clients resist certain topics in therapy because they touch on unconscious thoughts and feelings
defense mechanisms
unconscious techniques created to attempt to handle some conflict
transference
when a client develops a relationship with the therapist in which they expect the therapist to be similar to an important people in the past
How well does psychodynamic therapy work
- it’s very hard to measure
- very hard to manualize
- results of large scare revives are positive
