Chapter 12: Modelling Flashcards
Model
representation of a physical system or process
Computer Modelling
any activity that involves using software abstraction to represent a real or virtual problem
Scenarios
conditions or situations in the environment that can change
Computer Model
is a block of code or logic that takes in an argument or multiple arguments and returns a result or set of results
Simulations
running a model to allow different scenarios to be tested
Emergent behavior
are behaviors that are observed in the environment as a whole but that are not observed in the individual agents
Examples of Real Life Models
Covid - 19 Model
Engineering Model
What does ABM stand for?
Agent based Modelling
What is ABM
It involves building models to simulate the actions and interactions of individuals “agent” within an environment
Benefits of ABM
easy to work out a basic set of rules for an agent
Helps describe complex situations
Uses of ABM in Biology
Tumour growth
Immune Systems
Uses of ABM in Business
Supply-Chains
Teamwork
Uses of ABM in Technology
Social Media Usage
Logistical System
