Career

Adaptive leadership

Role overload
State of tension that occurs when there are too many role demands/expectations to handle in the time allowed.
Role conflict
State of tension that occurs when the demands and expectations of various roles conflict with each other.
Role spillover
State of tension that occurs when the demands or preoccupations about one role interfere with the ability to carry out another role.
Empowerment
Sharing information/authority so that people can take initiative and make decisions to solve problems; a concept applied in any context where power is typically unequal, such as parent–child, doctor–patient, or supervisor–subordinate.
work–family facilitation
Individual coping strategies and family-friendly attitudes and resources of the workplace that make it easier for employees to address pressing family demands within the scope of their daily work.
vital marriage
The partners enjoy spending time together, resolve conflicts quickly, willing to make sacrifices for each other, satisfying, pleasurable sex life.
interpersonal interactions
Frequency and quality of communication and time shared in a relationship.
climacteric
Menopause for women and reduced reproductive competence for men.
Menopause
The natural cessation of menstruation, usually occurring in the fifth decade of life; one aspect of the close of a woman’s fertility.

Skills, talents, wealth, or other goods that can be used as needed.
parenting alliance
The capacity of a spouse to acknowledge, respect, and value the parenting roles and tasks of the partner.
coparenting
A respectful relationship in which parents who are NOT living together encourage active involvement with their children.
Filial obligation
The responsibilities of adult children for their aging parents.
Household
All persons who occupy a housing unit, including both related family members and all unrelated persons.
Management of the household
All the planning, problem solving, and activities adults undertake in order to take care of themselves and others in their care.

The capacity to contribute to the quality of life for future generations attained toward the end of middle adulthood.
Narcissistic people
Adults who devote their energy to the sole end of self-aggrandizement and personal satisfaction.
Chronically depressed people
Experiencing depression over a long period of time.
career stagnation
A lack of advancement or growth in one’s occupational path; a sense of disillusion about the meaning or value of one’s work.
person–environment interaction
Ongoing experiences between the individual and the physical/social environment that includes the family, work setting, neighborhood, and larger political community.
creativity
The ability to abandon old forms or patterns of doing things and to think in new ways.
care
The commitment to be concerned.
Rejectivity
The unwillingness to include certain others or groups of others in one’s generative concerns.
