Air Pollution
When harmful substances build up in the air to harmful levels.
Primary Pollutant
When a pollutant is put directly into the air by human activity.
Secondary Pollutant
When primary pollutants interact with eachother.
Smog
When pollution hangs over urban areas and reduces visability.
Temperature Inversion
When the air above is warmer then air below (sometimes by decreasing in altitude).
Sick-building Syndrome
Buildings that have very poor air quality.
Asbestos
Several fibers that are valued for their resistence for heat.
Decibel (dB)
The measurement of the intensity of sound.
Acid Precipitation
Rain, sleet, or snow that contains hgh levels of acids.
pH
The measurement of the acidity level are something (0 being the highest acid and 14 being the highest base).
Acid Shock
The sudden influx of acidic water that causes a rapid change in the pH.
