ASA I
normal, healthy patient without disease and a normal BMI. Not taking any medications
ASA II
a patient with mild systemic disease without functional limitations that is well controlled such as diabetes or hypertension
ASA III
patient with one or more moderate to severe systemic diseases with significant functional limitations
ASA IV
Patient with sever systemic disease that is a constant threat to life such as recent stroke or heart attack, or advanced cancer
ASA V
moribound patient not expected to survive 24 hours with to without care
ASA VI
a patient declared brain dead whose organs are being removed for donor purposes
