Chapter 11 - Intraventricular conduction defects Flashcards
what anatomical structure divides the left and right bundle branches?
Bundle of His
The left bundle branch further divides into what two structures?
anterior and posterior
What are the most common conduction defects in dogs? In cats?
Dogs - left and right bundle branch block. Cats - left anterior fasicular block (LAFB)
Describe the ECG characteristics of a right bundle branch block
QRS is prolonged, deep (negative) and usually has slurred S waves
Describe the ECG characteristics of a left bundle branch block
the QRS is very prolonged, positive complexes
Describe the ECG characteristics of left anterior fasicular block
normal duration QRS, tall R waves, MEA is to the left, can occur with afib
What is broad complex tachycardia?
if a supraventricular tachycardia is associated with aberrant ventricular conduction, it can mimic ventricular tachycardia. Also known as intermittent ventricular aberrancy
