Describe HPV.
Causes genital warts that can obstruct the urethra, vagina, and anus.
Describe the complications of HPV.

Describe herpes simplex.
It is small painful red bumps to the genital or mouth region – they can become painful blisters that rupture to form wet, open sores.
What are the signs and symptoms of Chlamydia in women? In men?
Women-
Abdominal pain
Abnormal vaginal discharge with a foul odor
Low-grade fever
Men-
Pain or burning while urinating
Pus or watery or milky discharge from the penis

Describe PID.
Inflammation of the internal female genital tract, characterized by abdominal pain, fever, and tenderness of the cervix.
What are the long-term complications of PID?
Scarring and obstruction of the fallopian tubes, ectopic pregnancy, and chronic pelvic pain.
What are the signs and symptoms of gonorrhea in women? In men?
Symptoms in men: thick, yellow-white pus from the penis.
Symptoms in women: usually asymptomatic but may experience discharge or burning when urinating.
What are the complications of gonorrhea in women? In men?

Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID)

Urinary obstruction

List the stages of syphilis. Describe what happens in each stage.
Primary Syphilis – chancre (open sore) where the bacteria entered the body
Secondary Syphilis – skin rash
Latent Syphilis – asymptomatic
Tertiary Syphilis – heart and brain damage
Describe pubic lice.
Pubic lice (or “crabs”) are usually found in the pubic hair, but it can migrate to other hairy areas of the body.
