Treaty
Generally refers to an organization composed mainly of officials of member nations and usually established by treaty.
International orginization
A law system where the primary source of the law is statutory code. Based on Roman Law
Civil Law System
Provides that judicial branches of countries will not examine the validity of others
Act of state doctrine
Legal seizure of private property or goods from the government with just compensation
Expropriation
Illegal seizure of private property or goods by the government without compensation
Confiscation
Exempts foreign nations from the jurisdiction of the U.S. courts when certain conditions are met
sovereign immunity
A tax on imports
tariff
The sale of imported goods at less than fair market value
dumping
Established by the world trade organization to minimize trade barriers among other nations
