Chapter 11 Flashcards
3 Basic modes of display, or formats, are important in viewing ultrasound information
Amplitude mode
Brightness mode
Motion mode
A mode = Amplitude Mode
appears as a series of upward spikes
x axis represents reflector depth
Y axis represents the amplitude of the reflected signal
used extensively in ophthalmology
B Mode or Brightness Mode
appears as a line of dots of varying brightness
x axis represents reflector depth
y axis represents depth
z axis represents amplitude
B Scan
Multiple lines of B mode information where obtained and combined to construct early images of static organs
M-Mode or Motion Mode
Appears as a group of horizontal wavy lines
x axis represents time
y axis represents reflector depth
used primarily to assess the motion of cardiac walls and structures
