Chapter 11 Flashcards
1
Q
automatic reinforcement
A
- Reinforcement that does not require intervention from someone else. Your own behavior produces reinforcement.
2
Q
conditioned reinforcer
A
- previous experience with a stimulus that when given after a behavior, increase the likelihood of the behavior happening again.
3
Q
generalized conditioned reinforcer
A
- a stimulus that is reinforcing because it is associated with other stimuli
4
Q
positive reinforcement
A
- when the consequence’s effect on the environment delivered after a behavior, increases the behavior case of happening again in the future
5
Q
positive reinforcer
A
- a stimulus that strengthens a desired behavior likelihood of occurring again in the future
6
Q
Premack principle
A
- ask asking the individual to engage in a low probability behavior before they can have a high probability behavior or reinforcer.
7
Q
reinforcer assessment
A
- test designed to show how effective/powerful a stimulus is at increasing behaviors that it follows.
8
Q
response-deprivation hypothesis
A
- delaying/denial a stimulus can make that stimulus more reinforcing
9
Q
Rule-governed behavior
A
- When you do not engage in a certain behavior not because you have come into contact with the contingencies before, but because of a rule you have been told about what could happen if you do engage in that behavior.
10
Q
Socially mediated contingencies
A
- consequence that is delivered by another human or which requires another human in order for the individual’s behavior to contact a relevant reinforcer.
11
Q
Stimulus preference assessment
A
- identify stimuli as potential reinforcers
12
Q
Unconditioned reinforcer
A
- stimulus change that, when delivered as a consequence to a behavior, increases the probability of that behavior in the future without the individual having had any experience with that consequence in the past.
