Scheduling subcontractors, three fundamental rules…

A

When scheduling subcontractors for the job, the three fundamental rules that you should try to follow are to resist bringing in subcontractors onto the job until you’re 100% ready for them; to make sure that once you bring them on the job, they have everything they need to proceed; and pay all subcontractors promptly upon completion of their work.

Q

Why is a project diary important (super)?

A

There’s so much information that must be communicated back and forth among the project participants, and there is great opportunity for misunderstandings, confusion, and things falling through the cracks. The diaries help to keep us straight all of the communications, conversations, and activities.

17
Q

What ways has the construction industry increased overall involvement of the owner in the construction process?

A

Collaborative software programs that establish internet sites. These programs allow the owner to take part in a variety of project communication and may have a webcam linked to them.

17
Q

Why is it important to keep cost codes and report hours on timecards?

A

They provide the payroll clerk with all of the information needed to calculate wages and distribute paychecks. They also provide fundamental information to track and monitor productivity and labor expenditures.

18
Q

What does swppp stand for and what is its purpose??

A

Stormwater pollution protection plan, and its purpose is to document how the contractor will manage erosion and the prevention of pollution in lakes, rivers, wetlands and coastal areas by runoff water and sediment from the building site.
