Heartfelt sorrow and aversion for sins committed along with the intention of sinning no more; most important act of penitents, necessary for receiving the Sacrament of Penance

The source and summit of Christian life, and one of the Sacraments of Initiation
Eucharist
A name given to the Holy Eucharist, especially the concentrated elements reserved in the tabernacle for adoration, or for the sick
Blessed Sacrament
A prayer devotion made for forty continuous hours in which the Blessed Sacrament is exposed
Forty Hours’ Devotion
From the Latin word “letania” meaning prayer or supplication; a form of prayer used in liturgies that includes prayers with responses
Litany
A prayer that may have originated with the Desert Fathers in the fifth century, it is a short, formulaic prayer that is said repeatedly
Jesus Prayer
The official daily prayer of the Church; also known as the Divine Office; offers prayers, Scripture, and reflections at regular intervals throughout the day
Liturgy of the Hours
A term that means “lying behind the ordinary range of perception”
Transcendence
An act of love, and a person response to God’s love for us
Prayer
A candle or small light left lit in the sanctuary of a Church; indicating the presence of the reserved Eucharist
Sanctuary lamp
A meeting place for worship
Tabernacle
A sacred song or hymn
