What is the meaning of biology?
A
The study of living things. The common division is Botany and Zoology.

What are the characteristics of living things?
A
- Movement - living organisms need to move in order to obtain the resources needed.
- Sensitivity - living organisms are sensitive; react to thing around them.
- Growth - substances are taken in and built into the structures of the body.
- Feeding - living organisms need food to survive; for energy.
- Respiration - getting energy out of food.
- Excretion - all living things create waste substances which they must excrete.
- Reproduction - all living things must make new individuals.

The seven characteristics and cells.

What are two ways of reproduction? Explain.
A
- Sexual reproduction - involving 2 organisms and by the use of gametes which join.
- Asexual reproduction - one organism which can produce without the use of gametes.

What are the two types of feeding? Explain.
A
- Plants - autotrophs - make their own food by photosynthesis.
- Animals - heterotrophs - feed on ready made food by eating other organisms.
