What is the difference between a primary and secondary source?
Primary source: source created in the time being investigated. Secondary source: A source that was a reconstruction of a certain event/time.
Where does the word history come from?
History comes from the Greek word ‘historia’ which mean learning by inquiry.

Sources are written or non written information about the past

Studies human development

What does a palaeontologist do
Study plants and animal fossils to learn about the biology of past life forms
What does a cryptographer do
Study, create and decipher ancient codes and writing systems
What does a linguist do
Study the structure and nature of language over time.
What is radiocarbon dating
When something dies the carbon 14 gives out radiation which gradually changes to nitrogen 14 and the amount of carbon 14 left can be used like a clock to see how old it is.
Why do we study history
To learn about
The societies and values of people that lived in the past
What people did and the reasons for, and result of their action
How the world and its people have changed over time
