What is the seperation thesis?
The belief that there is a genuine difference between business facts and moral values.
What is the problem with business nad morals?
The problem is that facts and values are often intertwined and can’t be seperated easily.
What are descriptive statements?
They are facts about the world.
What are normative statements?
Tell us how the world ought to be. Moral statements.
Is the seperation thesis noramative or descriptive?
It is either descriptive meaning that business and ethics do not go together or it is normative meaning business shouldn’t be ethical.
What is the truth about separation thesis?
Since business facts can’t be seperate from moral values and since it is neither descriptive or normative
business ethics cannot be sperated.
What are three points of business ethics?
- Ethics is essential to the functioning of the business world and market. Unethical businesses do not last long.
- Ethical practices are what make a business viable and adaptable. Unethical ones usually cost more long term.
- Business ethics is everyones business. How a business acts affects everyone.
What are 3 questions to keep in mind?
- Am I doing the right thing?
- Am I doing it the right way?
- Am I doing it for the right reasons?

What are ethical questions to consider?
- Is it legal
- Does it feel right
- How would it look in the newspaper
- Who else is impacted
- Would you be embarassed
