What are vectors?
The lines within the image that suggest movement or highlight particular sections within the image.
What is a salient image?
The first person, object or thing that catches your eye.
What is the gaze of an image?
Where the characters eyes in the image draw to, it can determine the relationship between two characters and/or the viewer.
What is the location of an image.
Foreground, middle ground, backgrounds that are used to indicate the importance and relationships between characters and objects.
That is the size of an image?
The size of characters can create relationships of strength or weakness compared to other characters or the environment.
What is the angle?
Determines how we see the character. High= weak and vulnerable, low= powerful, big and controlling.
Why are symbols used?
They represent an idea.
What are signifiers?
They are signals that are often more powerful than words because they have special meaning or significance.
Why would you show, don’t tell?
Using words that put an image in the audiences head and not telling you directly how they feel creates the story in the viewers head instead of being something they just read.
What are concrete nouns?
Knowing facts and describing them.
What are powerful verbs?
Adding emotion to a sentence.
What is sensory imagery?
Hear, see, touch, smell, taste.
What is figurative language?
When you create an image in someone’s mind by comparing them to something else.
What is omission?
When you leave something out of a story that the reader doesn’t need to know about.
