Boer People, they were the descendants of Dutch immigrants from holland.
They spoke Dutch and didn’t want to be taken over by England
Why did Britain want to take over the territories they didn’t control in South Africa?
To show how they could intimidate them, but the Boer people were proud and wouldn’t be intimidated.

Why was there a lot of public pressure on the Canadian government to join Britain to fight against the Boers?
Because the majority of Canadians were of British ancestry.

Sir Wilfrid Laurier, and he didn’t think it was a good idea but he agreed to to pay for 7000 volunteer soldiers and nurses.

Britain became the First Nation in modern history to use concentration camps to enslave and exterminate prisoners.
Why did the Boer War important to Canada’s military?
Despite the black marks on our country, the Boer war was important for Canada’s growth as a military nation and many of the soldier went on to become military officers, eventually leading Canada into WW1, 2 years later.
