Define Family?
A group of two or more persons related by birth, marriage, or adoption and residing together in a household.
Affiliated kin?
Unrelated individuals who feel and are treated as if they were relatives.
Nuclear Family?
Consist of mother, father, and children.
Traditional Family?
Middle class version of the nuclear family in which women primary roles are wife and mother and mens role includes husband and breadwinner.
Marriage?
Legally recognized union between two people, united sexually, cooperate economically, and may give birth to, adopt, or rear children.
Serial Monogamy?
A practice in which one person may have several spouses over his or her lifetime although no more than one at any given time.
Socialization?
The shaping of individual behavior to conform to social or cultural norms.
The family of origin?
The family in which we grow up, the family that orients us to the world.
The family of procreation?
The families formed through marriage and childbearing.
The family of cohabitation
The family formed through living or cohabiting with another person whether married or unmarried.
Kinship system?
The social organization of the family.
Conjugal relationships?
Family relationships created through marriage.
Consanguineous relationships?
Created through biological (blood) ties through birth.
Critical thinking means?
Clean and unbiased thinking.
Objectivity?
Suspend the beliefs, biases, or prejudices we have about a subject until we understand what is being said.
