the science that studies behavior, as well as the mental and physiological processes that underlie behavior
what is behavior?
actions and reactions that we can observe
what are mental processes?
internal activity of the mind that we can not directely observe

emotion,dream, thought….
what are physiological processes?
the activities of our physical bodies that make behavior and mental processes possible.
example of physiological processes
pulse increasing, increasing heart rate, brain function
the four goals of psychology
- describe the behavior
- explain the behavior
- predict the behavior
- control/change the behavior
what is developmental psychology?
the scientific study of age-related changes across the life-span
what is meant by physical changes?
changes in the size, shape, and characteristic of the body
what is meant by cognitive changes?
changes in thinking, memory, problem-solving, and intellectual skills.
what is meant by personality changes?
modification in the characteristics that differentiate one person from another.
what is meant by social changes?
changes in interactions and relationships with other.
