A
- They had to deal with shortages as food trade was distrupted by the war
- Essential food items-> rationed to cope with shortages
- Black market, paid a lit for essential goods
- Jap government printed more money-> drop in value of banana money-> made it worthless
- Substituted other items to deal eith shortage

How did dieases and death affect people?
A
- Healthcare was not sanitary
- Peole were weak due to shortage of food
- POWs faced it the worst as they experienced overcrowding too, were made to do labour work eg. clear war damage and bury corpses

- The Jap did not care about the peoples well-being
- Malnourishment in POWs and locals lead to weakening->death

How did relocation affect the people? And why?
A
- Japs promoted self suffiency in food-> encouraged relocation
- Endau:Chinese: Soil was fertile and suitable for cultivation
- Bahau: Eurasians: Soil was POOR for cultivation-> Eurasians lacked skills in growing crops-> ate maggots and rats-> died
