How did opposition from the locals help contribute the the Jap’s defeat?

A

Jap’s mistreatment led to oppostion-> guerilla groups often were made and attacked the Japs…
Local resistance significantly weakened Japs as a large nimber of troops had to be used to enforce order in conquered territories-> not enough troops to fight British

How did the America island hopping technique help with the Japan defeat?

A
  1. Jap empire was extensive, had to streatch resources to defend against America.
  2. Defeats in places like Midway Island drained Jap resources, where they lost 4 aircraft carriers in Mida=way Island
  3. They lost Philippines, which meant they had lost direct contact with the East Indies.

How did better resources of Allies help with the Jap defeat?

  1. The Axis Powers (Germany, Italy, Japan) were outnumbered
  2. The Axis lost in terms of resources and military supplies
  3. Japan could not count on Germany or Italy, as they were fighting for survival in Europe by 1944 and 45

Therefore when USA had time to reorganise, the Jap faced increasing setbacks

  2. Atomic bombs were dropped, and forced them to choose either complete annihilation, or to surrender
