should only be done without accepting significant risk tp responder or patient

not recommended to move unless it is a reasonable threat
standard precautions
washing hands, gown, mask, glove and other protective barrier when needed

general impression
based on patietns age and apperance
primary survey includes
LOC, ABC
forming general impression
position, breathing, attentiveness, skin color, wounds, fluids and odors
primary survey airway
must maintain patent during whole primary survey, use manual airway stabilization first then go to more invasive
primary survey breath
between 8-24 breaths is ok, anything outside of those numbers ventillatory assistance is needed
primary survey circulatory
skin color, moisture and temp.
radial pulse
if no pulse in uninjured limb could mean decompensated shock
cap refil most reliable in
children younger than 12
primary survey nuero
only done if time allows, LOC, pupil, speech, reactivity, motor function
