Define communication
Process of acting on info. Thinking or doing something in response to the action or the words as you understand it. Making sense of intuitions, feelings, and emotions . Interpreting through senses
Why is com an important course of study ?
It’s the fundamental aspect of being human. It’s a basic life skill in which people spend 80-90% of their waking moments communicating.

3 criteria used to determine if comm is competent
1) message is understood as the communicator intended it to be understood
2) message achieves communicators intended effect
3) ethical- enhances honesty,integrity, respect for self and others

It’s linear, with meaning . Sent or transferred from source to receiver
