A
- tightly packed
- can slide over each other
5

Q
Practical: temperature time graph
A
- Fill beaker with crushed ice. Use a thermometer to monitor temperature
- Heat with a bunsen burner
- Using stopwatch, record TEMP and STATE every 30seconds
- Continue until water has been boiling for a minute
- Plot graph of temp against time.
→ constant temperature should be seen when ice melting, water boiling.
7
Q
Investigate SHC of materials
A
- Place beaker on digital balance and set to 0
- Add 250ml water and record mass of water using digital balance
- Put immersion heater and thermometer in water
- Connect circuit with:
→ ammeter in series with power supply and immersion heater
→ voltmeter in parallel with immersion heater - Record initial temperature at 0s
- Turn on power supply, set at 10V and start stopwatch
- Record voltage and current
- Continue to record V and C every 60 seconds for 10 minutes
- Calc E supplied and temperature change
