Chamber Enlargement Flashcards
1
Q
What does P mitrale mean?
A
LA conduction abnormality
2
Q
What does P pulmonale mean?
A
RA conduction abnormality
3
Q
Reasons for atrial enlargement?
A
- mitral/tricuspid disease
- ischemia
- HTN
4
Q
Atrial abnormality means?
A
enlargement of some kind of conduction issue
5
Q
What do P-waves look like with a RAA (RA abnormlity)?
A
- tall
- peaked P-waves in lead II
6
Q
What do P-waves look like with LAA (LA abn)?
A
- notched P-waves in II (LA depolarizes late)
- wide and deep terminal forces in V1
7
Q
Gold standard to determine if enlarged heart?
A
echocardiogram
8
Q
ECG criteria for RVH:
A
- R axis deviation
- reversal of precordial pattern: Tall waves over RIGHT precordium and deep S waves over LEFT precordium
- QRS interval usually normal
- late inrinsicoid deflection V1 and V2
- ST segment depressio nwith upward convexity
9
Q
LVH - ECG criteria?
A
- really only need to look at ST segments for depression (Morphology)
- could have prolonged QRS
