How did the government respond to Suffragette militancy?

A

They introduced the Cat and Mouse Act to release women who went on hunger strike as previously women arrested were force fed. On Black Friday 1910 women marched for the vote but were met with police resistance.

A

They were unsure what effect the vote would have on elections and the war caused the bill to be halted. Asquith opposed the bill and refused to give in to violence.
