Covenant
A solemn promise of agreement made between two parties; another word for testament
Creation
The act by which god began all that exists outside of himself
Exodus
Liberation of the Israelites from Egyptian slavery under the leadership of Moses, who was led by God.
Incarnation
The singular and unique mystery whereby the son of God, while not ceasing to be God, assumed a human nature and became man so that he might accomplish our salvation.
Jesus
Name that means “god saves”; Jesus of Nazareth is the savior God sent to redeem people from sin and death
Justice
The constant and firm will to give god and other people what is their due. Justice is a virtue (a dimension of ones character) a process (the work of justice) and a goal (a just world)
Kingdom of God
Gods reign of justice, love, and peace.
Messiah
The anointed one, the Christ. As messiah Jesus restored all people to communion and friendship with God through his life, death, and resurrection.
Natural law
We find order and design all through creation. Tbe sciences and our human powers manifest a plan that discloses harmony and order. The harmony exists also in humans, where certain laws governing not only our bodies, but what is right and wrong.
Original sin
The decision by the first humans to disobey God. Thereafter, all people (except Jesus and Mary) began life w a wounded human nature, drawn to selfishness and sin and in need of redemption by Christ.
Prophet
One who has a close relationship w God and communicates a divinely inspired message.
Sin
A deliberate thought, word, deed, or omission contrary to the eternal law of God.
Beatitudes
Jesus teaching about the meaning and oath to true happiness, teaching which depict the attitudes and actions that followers of Christ should have and the way to live in Gods kingdom today. They describe the way to attain the eternal the eternal holiness of blessedness to which God calls all people.
