Nearline Backup
Local Backup. Copies of data are stored in the same location as the Primary Data.
Offsite Backup
Remote Backup. Copies of data are stored in a different place.

Online Backup
Copies of data are immediately accessable over the Internet.

Incremental Backup
Only backs up files that have changed since the last backup. (Updated files)
• Requires the least amount of space
Differential Backup
The changes made since the last full backup are backed up.
• Faster Recovery than Incremental
• Slower than Full
Full Backup
Copies all data every backup.
• Requires the Most Space
• Time Consuming
• Fastest Recovery
The 3-2-1 Rule:
Make three copies of your Data, store it on two seperate types of media, and keep one copy stored offsite.

• Use automation to schedule backups

• Test Backups and Recovery Regularly
Active-Passive Configuration
Users are directed to the Primary Application. The Secondary Application Remains on standby until needed.
Active-Active
Both applications are utilized simultaneously and traffic is equally distributed.
Cold Site
• Storage Space
• No equiptment or data backups
• Cheaptest Option
• Takes a long time to become operational
Warm Site
• Has some data backed up
• Takes some time to become operational
Hot Site
• A mirror of the original site
• fully up to date data
• has all hard/software & power needed
• Ready for immediate switch over
• Most expensive Option
