- Food and water borne diseases
- > source of many infectious diseases
e. g. Paralytic toxins in shellfish - Vector-borne diseases
e. g. Mosquitoes as vector for malaria transmission

Hepatitis
A
Caused by hepatitis
- onset of fever, malaise, nausea, yellow discolouration of skin and eyes
Source of infection:
- Contaminated food or drinking water
- Directly from infected persons by the faecaloral route or by close contact
Precautions:
1. Avoid drinking contaminated water water or beverage with ice of doubtful origin
- Avoid eating uncooked or undercooked food particularly shellfish

Vector- borne disease: Malaria
A
Transmitted by female Anopheles mosquitoes
Acute malaria includes periodic fever, diarrhea aches
Precautions:
Avoid being bitten by mosquitoes
Take antimalarial drugs when appropriate
