Ch.4 Tissues Flashcards
Simple squamous epithelium
Location and function
Location: kidney glomeruli, lining of air sacs (alveoli) in lungs, inner lining of heart chambers, blood vessels, and lymphatic vessels, lining of ventral body cavities (mesothelium or serosae)
Function: diffusion and filtration, secrete lubricating substance (얇고 짜부 된 모양)
simple cuboidal epithelium
Location and function
Location: Ducts of secretory glands like pancreas, thyroid, secretory portions of small glands, kidney tubules
Function: Secretes and absorbs (통통함)
Simple columnar epithelium
Location/Function
Location: ciliated tissues = small bronchi, uterine tubes, and uterus
smooth = most of digestive tract, gallbladder
Function: protects, absorbs, secretes mucus and enzymes, ciliated cells propels mucus or reproductive cells
(두꺼워서 바쁜 소화기관 line하기 좋음)
pseudostratified columnar epithelium
Location/function
Location: ciliated tissue lines trachea and much of upper respiratory tract; stereociliated tissue lines epididymis and vas deferens
smooth tissue in male sperm ducts and large gland ducts
Function: protects, secretes mucus, ciliated cells propel mucus
stratified squamous epithelium
location/function
Location: non-keratinized = esophagus, mouth, and vagina
keratinized = epidermis = dry membrane
function: protection against abrasion
(여러 레이어라서 바깥 세상이랑 이어지는 부분 보호 + 빨리 복구)
stratified cuboidal epithelium
Location/function
Location: (rare) excretory ducts of sweat glands, salivary glands, and mammary glands
function: protection
stratified columnar epithelium
location/function
Location: urethrae, ducts
Function: secretes and protects
Transitional epithelium
Location/function
Location: bladder, part of urethra, and ureters
function: stretchy, distensibility
glandular epithelium
shape and types
shape: simple cuboidal
types:
unicellular = goblet cells
multicellular = serous glands and exocrine glands with ducts
CT proper loose
areolar
function and location
function: wraps/cushions organs, immune (macrophages), inflammation, holds tissue fluids
location: widely distributed under epithelia, forms lamina propria of mucous membranes, packages organs, surrounds capillaries
CT proper loose
adipose
function and location
function: reserve food fuel (triglycerides); insulation; supports and protects organs
location: under skin, around kidneys and eyeball, within abdomen, in breasts
CT proper loose
reticular
function and location
function: fibers form soft internal skeleton (stroma), supports other cell types parenchymal cells, white blood cells, mast cells, and macrophages. makes sheaths
location: lymphoid organs (lymph nodes, bone marrow, and spleen)
CT proper dense
dense regular
function and location
function: attach muscle-muscle or muscle-bone or bone-bone; withstand tensile stress in one direction
location: tendons, most ligaments, aponeuroses (similar to tendons)
CT proper dense
dense irregular
function and location
function: withstand tension in many directions; structural strength
location: dermis, submucosa of digestive tract, fibrous capsules of organs and joints
