What is descriptive research?
A research method that includes case studies, surveys, and observations.
What is correlational research?
A research method that finds the relationship between one or more variables.
What is experimental research?
A scientific research method that involves manipulating one or more independent variables to observe their effect on a dependent variable, while controlling for extraneous variables
Structuralism focused on what?
Understanding the structure of consciousness by getting patients to look inward.
Define Fuctionalism
A study of psychology that focuses on understanding the functions and purposes of the mind and behavior
What was the basis of Psychodynamics?
A study focused on the understanding of mental processes and behavior, shaped by the conscious and unconscious mind.
Define Behaviorism
A psychological approach that focuses on observable behavior and the environmental factors that influence it.
Define Humanism
A perspective that emphasizes the inherent goodness and potential of human beings, focusing on the study of an individual’s subjective experiences, personal growth, and self-actualization.
Hypothesis
A specific, testable prediction about the relationship between variables or the outcome of an experiment.
