A method of using a calibrated u/s sweep to screen breasts for masses

-Fast
-No radiation exposure
-Calibrated images (measuring)
-Images + screens dense breasts, whereas traditional mammography does not perform this as well
List 4 disadvantages for using ABUS?
-Time + cost
-Operator dependency
-Still requires a stand alone u/s unit
-Can not replace screening mammography
What does POCUS stand for?
Point of care u/s

-Quick
-Cheaper
-Allows for bedside clinical diagnosis
-Needle guidance for IVs
-FAST u/s (done in emergency department)
List 4 disadvantages of POCUS?
-Images often are not stored on PACS
-Gap in medical record
-Not a full bedside exam
-Often requires full u/s exam anyways
(can cause legal issues by having a gap in the medical record + not having images saved)
Are the disadvantages of POCUS starting to out weight the advantages these days?
Yes
