What is information revolution?
Information revolution is a period of change that might prove as significant to the lives of people. Computer technology is at the root of this change, and continuing advancements in that technology seem to ensure that this revolution would touch the lives of people.
What are the views of a realist on the information revolution?
Some aspects of the information revolution help the small, but some help the already large and powerful. Realists give several reasons why: • Size still matters • The collection and production of new information often requires a major investment • Military power remains important in critical domains of international relations
What is the Arab Awakening?
spreading news, quickly mobilizing
- Demographic considerations: enormous proportion of young people in North Africa and the Middle East.
- Economic considerations: massive underemployment, growing inequality, and perceptions of relative deprivation
- Political causes: a sense of powerlessness and loss of identification with national leaders, resulting in declining levels of legitimacy. Information revolution provided a set of crucial intermediate causes. A single Tunisian street vendor provided the precipitating cause
What are transnational actors?
nonstate entities acting across international borders
What are transnational relations?
Interactions across state borders outside the central control of the foreign policy organs
