What is osteoarthritis?
A
OA or degenerative joint disease (DJD) is a disorder characterized by progressive deterioration of the articulate cartilage.
It is non inflammatory (unless localized) no systemic disease.

A
Cartilage destruction with bone spur growth at joint ends;degenerative Pain with activity that improves @ rest Localized inflammatory response USUALLY OVERWEIGHT heberden's and bouchard's nodes

What are characteristics of RA?
A
synovial membrane inflammation resulting in cartilage destruction and bone erosion; inflammatory.
Swelling, redness warmth, pain at rest or after immobility ( am stiffness)
All joints are affected
USUALLY UNDERWEIGHT
Lungs, heart, skin and extra- articular involved
X-rays and positive rheumatoid factor are diagnostic tests.
