Classical Conditioning (Components) (R.UCS.UCR.NS.CS.CR)
Reflex, Unconditioned Stimulus (UCS), Unconditioned Response (UCR), Neutral Stimulus (NS), Conditioned Stimulus (CS), and Conditioned Response (CR).
Reflex (classical conditioning)
always starts with a reflex, reflexes are not learned, (dogs reflexively salivate when given meat powder)
Unconditioned Stimulus (classical conditioning)
stimulus that naturally elicits a biological reflex. (ex. meat powder)
Unconditioned Response (classical conditioning)
natural response to a natural stimulus. (ex. salivation is the response to meat)
Neutral Stimulus (classical conditioning) a bell
no reflexive response, the sound of a bell is a neutral stimulus to a dog.
Conditioned Stimulus (classical conditioning)
previously neutral stimulus - after associated with unconditioned stimulus changes to a conditioned response, (ex. light begins to demonstrate a response after being paired with food powder)
Conditioned Response (classical conditioning)
learned response to the previously neutral stimulus
3 memory boxes

Iconic Memory
are associated with visual sensory memory
Echoic Memory
are associated with auditory sensory memory.
Haptic Memory
are associated with the touch.
Phobia
irrational, intense, and persistent fear of certain situations, activities or things.
Forgetting
the process of which we are unable to retrieve memories.
Memory (the process by which…)
the processes by which information is required, encoded, stored, and retrieved and possibly forgotten
Learning (a mental process leading…)
a mental processes leading to relatively permanent changes in behavior, knowledge, or mental processes due to practice or experience.
Sensory Memory
information from the environment, large capacity, contains sensory info, very brief retention of images, forgotten or transferred
Short-Term Memory
limited capacity, brief storage of items, involved in conscious processing of information, forgotten or retrieved
Long-Term Memory
unlimited capacity, permanent storage, info organized and indexed, transferred or retrieved.
