Q

if the element copper has 29 protons, how many electrons does it have? How do you know?

29 electrons,

I know, because it a normal atom there are the same number of electrons as protons.

Q

What are the two things you can tell about an element based on its location on the periodic table? ( hint: use the words periods and groups)

A

periods (the rows/ones that go across) tell how many shells of electrons the element has

groups (the columns/ones that go up and down) tell how many electrons are in the element’s outer shell.

elements in the same group have similar physical and chemical properties

Q

Explain why all compounds are molecules but not all molecules are compounds

A

compounds are only produced as a result of a chemical change or a chemical reaction. Which makes all compounds molecules.

molecules can be produced without a chemical change needed, but can also be produced with a chemical change too. so, not all molecules are compounds, but all compounds are molecules
