b. glacier
A ______ is an example of erosion that is caused by gravity.
a. deflation
b. moraine
c. sand dune
d. rockslide
d. rockslide
what is the difference between weathering and erosion?
weathering BREAKS DOWN rocks
erosion MOVES materials from one place to another
What causes depositions to have a layered look?
Things settle according to weight. Heaviest on the bottom, lightest on the top, forming layers.
There is a stream in a field. It is wide and shallow. If you dig out a new path that is narrower than the old path, how will the new path change the erosion of the stream?
The narrower stream path would cause the water to flow faster. Erosion would be greater as the water and load move faster.
The stream could even deepen.
The Grant Memorial in Washington, DC, consists of bronze statues on white marble bases. Something has caused some of the bronze to dissolve and thus discolor the marble. Describe what may have caused the weathering of these bronze statues.
Acid rain may have caused weathering. Smoke, exhaust, and pollution in the air combine to form acid rain. the acid in the acid rain would cause the bronze to dissolve and run down to stain the marble.
