Q

Preeclampsia Care

Goal and nursing care

A
  • Goal: control BP, prevent seizures and bleeding
  • Care:
-assess CNS, vision changes, clonus, DTR, RUQ pain, edema, lung sounds, urinalysis
-maintain bed rest and lateral recumbent position
17
Q

Preeclampsia meds

3 (and their MOA)

A
  • mag sulfate (blocks calcium, vasodilates)
  • antihypertensies (vasodilate)
  • anticonvulsants (binds to CNS receptors to stabalize cells)
18
Q

Eeclampsia care

A
  • pt safety
  • airway
  • lateral position
  • monitor length
  • fetal monitoring
19
Q

HELLP Syndrome

A
  • Hemolysis (destruction of RBC)
  • Elevated Liver enzymes
  • Low Platelets
20
Q

Infection risk to fetus

A
  • PTD
  • IUGR
  • LBW
  • Sepsis
  • Neurological damage
21
Q

Infection routes

3

A
  • intrapartal (during vaginal delivery)
  • transplacental
  • ascend birth canal
