A

It was the first written agreement for self-government in America. Its intention was to protect the Pilgrims and their right to worship God in the manner they felt was best. Q

What were the main differences between schools and churches in New England compared to those in the Southern Colonies?

A

Southern Colonies had fewer churches, due to their large farms that separated families from each other. They waited for traveling Anglican preachers to come preach to them, as most Southerners belonged to the Church of England. The Southern Colonies also had few schools, with wealthy planters hiring tutors to privately teach their children. Eventually, families in some areas of the South got together to hire teachers, sometimes meeting in old field schools.
