Q

What are the guidelines for balancing a chemical equation

A
  1. Before placing coefficients in an equation, verify the formula is correct. Note: subscripts of formulas are never changed
  2. Balance each element by placing a coefficient in front of each substance.
    A. Start with most complex formula
    B. Balance polyatomic ions as a single unit
    C. The coefficient in an aq must be whole numbers
  3. After balancing the equation check your equation
