Intersex
People who have both male and female physical traits
Transexual
People who feel they are one sex though they are biologically the other
Incest Taboo
Universal taboo forbidding sexual relations or marriage between certain relatives
Sexual Revolution
A profound change in sexual attitudes and practices occurring alongside industrialization. Impacted women a lot due to historical regulations
Sexual Counterrevolution
A movement critiquing what was considered a moral decline in society. Called for returns to “traditional values”
Sexual Orientation
Romantic and physical attraction to another person
Includes heterosexuality, homosexuality, bisexuality, asexuality, etc.
Homophobia
Discomfort over gay, lesbian, bisexual relations
Heteronormativity
Society’s tendency to perceive Heterosexuality as the normal orientation
Transgender
Appearing or behaving in ways that challenge conventional gender norms. This is not a gender orientation.
