Legal Description
Is a description of a particular piece of property
Methods of description :

Monuments
Naturally occurring physical features of the land only to determine the boundaries of a parcel of real property in order to legally describe it
Metes and Bounds
Describe property by specifying its shape and dimensions.
Surveyor
Uses both precision instruments a known natural and artificial bounds to measure the exact angles and distances in order to establish the boundaries of a piece of real property.
Government Survey
1785 Federal government adopted the Government
- called the Godetic or rectangular system

Is the point, Lin or surface from which a vertical height or depth is measured
Contour Maps
know as Topographic maps can be helpful to builders and subdividers because they show shape and slope of the surface of the land
