Structured Communication:
The degree of standardization used with the data collection instrument.
Fixed- alternative question:
A question in which the responses are limited to stated alternatives.
Open-ended question:
A question for which respondents are free to reply in their own words rather than being limited to choosing from among a set of alternatives. Used to collect Primary Data.
Disguise:
The amount of knowledge about the purppose or sponsor of a study communicated to the respondent. Hide the purpose. Used to collect primary data.
Debriefing:
The process of providing appropriate information to respondents after data have been collected using disguise.
Methods of Administering Questionnaires:
Personal Interviews, Mall Intercepts, telephone interviews, Random-digit dialing (RDD), computer-assisted interviewing (CAI), Mailing Questionnaire, Internet-Based Questionnaires
