CH 6 Flashcards
Learning
What is learning?
Adaptive process where behaviour changes due to experience.
Involves interactions between individuals & the environment leading to changes in behaviour
What is classical conditioning
Who is it associated with
where a neutral stimulus becomes associated with a meaningful stimulus
Pavlov coined it
what is unconditioned stimulus
stimulus that naturally elicits a response (food)
what is unconditioned response
a natural response to ucs (salvation)
what is conditioned stimulus
A previously natural stimulus that after being paired with ucs, elicits a response
what is conditioned response
the response elicited by CS
What was pavlovs experiment
dogs learned to associate a bell(CS) with food(UCS), leading to salvation(CR)
who is responsible for Operant Conditioning
Skinner
What is Operant conditioning
learning where behaviour is influenced by its consequences
what is positive reinforcement
adding pleasant stimulus
what is negative reinforcement
removing an unpleasant stimulus
what is a positive punishment
adding unpleasant to decrease behaviour
what is negative punishment
removing pleasant to decrease behaviour
what is fixed interval
rewards after a fixed time period
variable interval
rewards after variable time intervals
