Ch. 6 Flashcards
1
Q
where does cellular respiration take place
A
in the mitochondria of nearly all eukaryotic cells
2
Q
how do you know if an equation is exergonic or endergonic
A
by which side the ATP is on
3
Q
how many ATP does a glucose produce
A
32
4
Q
redox reaction
A
movement of electrons from molecule to the other
5
Q
stages of cellular respiration
A
1) Glycolysis- Break Glucose into 2 pyruvate, takes place in the cytosol
2) Pyruvate Oxidation/ CAC- happens in the mitochondria, pyruvate broken down into Co2 in CAC, supplies step 3 with electrons
3) Oxidative Phosphorylation- electron transport chain and chemiosmosis, where most ATP is generated
